The plot follows what happened in real life with certain creative additions, like the introduction of the vampire girl and that names of people, things, and places are changed from their real life counterparts. Other than that, it is indeed a fairly simple, but whole story. For those that know history, this anime will annoy them with how it presents it, but those that don't know history may find it too simple and boring. Tsuki to Laika to Nosfertau or Irina: the Vampire Cosmonaut is a 2021 anime that is loosely based on the the Soviet Space Program in the early 1960s and Yuri Gagarin's spaceflight.
